Granular Carbon Filter

Commonly referred to as “charcoal filters”, granular high activated carbon filters are made from naturally occurring raw materials (coconut shells or coal). The material is “activated” by introducing high heat which increases the surface area and, therefore, the filtering capacity of the media. Carbon filters are commonly used to treat foul odor, bad taste, or to remove chemical impurities from the water supply. These systems are ideal for municipal water applications where chlorine taste and odor can be a nuisance.
